DH550 prototype "Wild Vanilla"
Daggerboards offer improved windward performance and the ability to pull the boards up for beaching and for side-slipping in extreme weather. Cruising keels offer simpler sailing.
This option will also be available on the smaller sister, the Dix 470, when any builder wants that feature.

Hi Dudley
ReplyDeleteI eventually noticed the outline of the LAR on one of the study plans. It's a decent size! Is there any transition or large coving into the LAR line from the hull line?
Regards
Mick
Hi Mick,
ReplyDeleteThe junction is radiused. This is more for fabrication purposes than strength reasons for the plywood boat. On a composite boat the radius would be larger for strength reasons.
Please contact me by email if you want to discuss this further.
