Single-Handed Non-Stop Circumnavigation

Bohdana Semenova is planning for a single-handed non-stop circumnavigation via the 5 Great Capes and the Sothern Ocean. Bohdana grew up with dinghies and, as a child, was Ukrainian champion in Optimists. Her dad, Philip moved into larger and more capable boats for ocean sailing and built a Didi 34 in Kiev, named "Estra", which he launched in 2012.

Philip used "Estra" for racing, local cruising on the Black Sea and among the Greek Islands, as well as for charter work. Since start of the war with Russia she has been out of the water in Mykolaiv. Bohdana will transport "Estra" by road to Romania before sailing to the start point for the circumnavigation in Spain.

Bohdana is an accomplished sailor, with multiple trans-Atlantic voyages, Patagonia and Cape Horn under her belt. We will liaise during the preparation of her boat about potential upgrades to ready it to take on the Southern Ocean.  The Didi 34 is smaller sister to the Didi 38 "Black Cat", of similar construction but of a more robust and slightly more cruising-oriented concept.
